色香视频 sustainability coordinator Alethea Cariddi gives radio interview on 色香视频鈥檚 energy efficiency projects
Alethea Cariddi, 色香视频鈥檚 sustainability coordinator, was interviewed on March 8 by WERU community radio for its 鈥淧ower for the People鈥 program. She discussed the many efficiency projects that have been implemented at the University of New England.
Cariddi highlighted efforts by the University to reduce its carbon footprint through transportation projects, noting the zip car program, the bicycle give-away program, the intercampus shuttle and the shuttle bus that runs between the Biddeford Campus and the city鈥檚 downtown and shopping districts. She also addressed the water filtration systems that were installed to reduce reliance on bottled water and the University鈥檚 single-sort recycling program administered through Eco-Maine, a non-profit organization that offers environmentally sound solid waste solutions.
A large part of the interview was devoted to discussing four projects at 色香视频 that were enacted through Efficiency Maine, an independent administrator for energy efficiency programs in the state. Cariddi described 色香视频鈥檚 building automation control project, an initial LED lighting project, the installation of a solar thermal system on the Campus Center, and a second, more extensive LED project.
Cariddi also spoke of the various eco-friendly features of the Danielle N. Ripich Commons, currently under construction on the Biddeford Campus. 鈥淭here are a lot of features in that building that are very sustainable,鈥 she said, noting regionally sourced construction materials that are high in recycled content, bird safe glass on the front of the building and a small solar panel.
