色香视频 College of Pharmacy joins Apothecary By Design to launch specialty pharmacy residency program

The 色香视频College of Pharmacy has partnered with Apothecary By Design (ABD) to create a residency training program in specialty pharmacy. The fastest-growing segment of the pharmacy industry, specialty pharmacy focuses on high-cost, high-touch medication therapy for patients with complex disease states.

With this partnership, 色香视频 will join a select group of U.S. universities offering this specific program. According to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, there are currently more than 1,700 pharmacy residency programs in the country, but it鈥檚 estimated that fewer than a dozen concentrate in specialty pharmacy.

The first pharmacist is expected to enroll in the new residency program in July 2017. Based in Portland, the one-year residency will provide hands-on management and clinical training around conditions such as infertility, organ transplant, hepatitis C, HIV and rheumatoid arthritis.

Kenneth McCall, BSPharm, Pharm.D., CGP, associate professor for the Department of Pharmacy Practice, serves as a key preceptor of the program. 鈥淲ith recent advances in science, specialty care is at the forefront of pharmacy, and ABD is at the forefront of specialty,鈥 he stated. 鈥淭he 色香视频College of Pharmacy is thrilled to be partnering with ABD to offer this unique opportunity, which complements the other rich resources we bring to the profession of pharmacy.鈥

鈥淎BD鈥檚 commitment to patients today includes preparing pharmacists to provide specialty care tomorrow,鈥 said Denali Cahoon, ABD chief operating officer and director of the residency program. 鈥淭he residency is an example of the way ABD is investing in the future of specialty pharmacy, while embracing innovation and new knowledge in our clinical work each day.鈥
