Dora Anne Mills, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, É«ÏãÊÓƵ’s vice president for clinical Affairs and director of the Center for Health Innovation, wrote a piece for the Portland Press Herald and the Kennebec Journal outlining ways that patients and advocates can protect their quality care in hospitals.

Mills recommends that patients have bedside advocates who monitor the care, procedures and tests administered. These bedside advocates should also keep a detailed notebook by the bedside, noting the patient’s condition, medications and tests administered, and the general care plan. In addition, she emphasizes the importance of asking questions to care providers.
