Lara Carlson invited to present at the 2016 National Strength & Conditioning Association conference

Lara Carlson,DPE., F.A.C.S.M., C.S.C.S. , associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and the Center for Excellence in the Neurosciences, was invited to present at the 2016 National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) conference. The annual NSCA national conference was held July 6-9, 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The NSCA is the world leading membership organization for practitioners, researchers, and educators in the field of strength and conditioning.

Carlson presented on her motorsports research to audience members who directly work with racecar drivers and pit crew athletes. Her latest research provides support for exercise training and heat mitigation practices as strategies to become heat acclimatized to better meet the thermoregulatory and cardiovascular challenges of motorsport competition. While Carlson spoke about her driver research in the symposium, William Kraemer, Ph.D., F.A.C.S.M., C.S.C.S., professor from Ohio State University and one of only a handful of researchers investigating resistance training for the entire body, spoke about pit crew athlete training.
