COM students spend summer as fellows and interns

The Department of Geriatric Medicine has assisted more than 30 College of Osteopathic Medicine students with attaining fellowships and internships for the summer of 2015. 

Scott Morin, Jeffrey Brow, and Rachel Sluder, all from the class of ‘18, received American Federation for Aging Research Fellowships. The students are serving their fellowships at Harvard, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and Johns Hopkins, respectively.

Also of note is Jessica Lucas (’18), the first COM student to attain the American Association for Thoracic Surgery Summer Intern Scholarship in Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Catherine Bixby (’18), the first COM student to attain the Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research Medical Student Anesthesia Research Summer Fellowship.

Mitchell Granoff (’18) and Ankita Tandon (’18) are completing fellowships with the Institute for Research, Education and Training in Addiction.

Andrea Gaul (’17), Nicole Butazov (’18) and Ardit Shehu (’18) received fellowships from the Betty Ford Center’s Summer Institute for Medical Students.

In addition, Paul Osterdahl (’16) and Mazmil Jawed (’18) were awarded Peter Morgane Research fellowships from É«ÏãÊÓƵ. Osterdahl is serving at Maine Medical Center Research Institute, while Jawed is at John Hopkins University Medical School in the Department of Rheumatology.
