WLBZ and WABI feature stories on É«ÏãÊÓƵ Add Verb Productions' Dexter High performance of 'You the Man'

WLBZ TV and WABI TV (both based in Bangor) on March 27, 2012 featured stories on a theatrical performance that day of "You the Man" by É«ÏãÊÓƵ's Add Verb Productions at Dexter Regional High School.

The 30-minute, five-character, one-man play — about domestic violence, its warning signs and ways to prevent it — has special significance in Dexter, where the community is still stinging from an incident last June in which Steven Lake killed his estranged wife and two children before committing suicide.

"It just comes down to not waiting for something bad to happen to start acting like we care," said actor Brian Chamberlain (in photo), who plays all five roles.

Organizers behind the play hope it prevents further domestic violence in the area. "I'm hoping people will be able to step up and they'll be able to recognize if events are occuring in their home or someone else's," said Dexter High School student Rebecca Mason, president of the school's Key Club, which sponsored the play.

After the show, a panel of victims' advocates and Dexter Police Officers spoke with students about the warning signs of abusive relationships, and how to report them, Watch the and videos.
