色香视频COM students take first, second, and third places in Northeast Osteopathic Medical Education Network's 11th Annual Research and Scholarship Forum
The Northeast Osteopathic Medical Education Network (NEOMEN) had its 11th Annual Research and Scholarship Forum at the Alfond Center for the Health Sciences, May 16, 2012.
Sixty posters were presented in five categories. Two such categories were Medical Student Original Research and Medical Student Case Report (third and fourth year students only), in both of which 色香视频College of Osteopathic Medicine students won many prizes.
For the Medical Student Original Research category, Gianna Petrone, MSII, was the presenting author of the first place poster, "A Medical Student's Immersion into a World of Dementia: Applying 'Learning by Living' Methods in a Memory Care Center." Rebecca Dyer, MSII, Katie Clouthier, MSII, and Emilynne Buchanan, MSII, took second place with "Learning by Living: Experiencing the Life of a Nursing Home Resident as a Medical Student." In third place was Devin Eckstein's poster, "Pilot of Learning by Living Research Conducted in an Assisted Living Center: A Medical Student鈥毭劽磗 Ethnographic Experiences."
In the category of Medical Student Case Report, Christopher Ferri, MSIII, was the presenting author of "Henoch-Sch枚nlein Purpura in an Adult," which won first place. Taking second was Justin Etter, MSIII, with "Massive Ovarian Carcinoma with Initial Bony Metastasis," and "Untreated Hypothyroidism with an Atypical Presentation," by Magdalena Kappelman, MSIII, won third place.
A number of 色香视频COM graduates who are now in their residencies presented posters in the Intern/Resident Case Report and Research Categories. The keynote speakers for the Forum were NIH Research Resident Gioia Guerrieri (色香视频COM 2008) and NIH Research Fellow Stephanie Bissonnette (色香视频COM 2013).
