色香视频 presents films by Huey documentary and discussion on jazz legend Marian McPartland
色香视频 will be showing Films by Huey's documentary, "In Good Time, The Piano Jazz of Marian McPartland," on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. on 色香视频's Biddeford Campus, followed by a discussion with the filmmaker Huey, a.k.a., James Coleman.
The film details the life and career of jazz legend Marian McPartland as a musician, composer, and host of National Public Radio's Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz. It premiered over the summer at the Maine International Film Festival and received second place in the Audience Favorite Film Award.
For over 30 years, Huey has been making films about artists, the environment, Maine and education. His work as a presenter, instructor and filmmaker allows him to travel widely across the state. Huey is the founder of the Maine Student Film and Video Festival and has been the director for 31 years, working with students in grades K-12 while also teaching widely at Maine colleges and universities. He received a fellowship from the Maine Arts Commission and was the first recipient of the "Huey" award from the Maine Film Commission.
Huey's films have been seen at film festivals in the United States, on PBS, and in Europe. They include "In Good Time, The Piano Jazz of Marian McPartland," "Wilderness and Spirit, A Mountain Called Katahdin," "Tony Montanaro, The Miracle of Inspiration," "Honest Vision, A Portrait of Todd Webb," "Bonsoir Mes Amis/Good Night My Friends," and "Grace, A Portrait of Grace DeCarlton Ross." Huey also produced Burnurwurkskek Singers, Gathering Songs, and the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Wilderness and Spirit, A Mountain Called Katahdin.
