Art Work by 色香视频 Faculty Stephen Burt and Sarah Gorham on display at 色香视频 in Biddeford

The 色香视频hosts an exhibition of art work by the Creative and Fine Arts Department faculty members, Stephen Burt and Sarah Gorham, at 色香视频's Biddeford Campus Center through March 31, 2011.

Burt's etchings are the result of close observation and a longstanding fascination with nature. Nevertheless, they are entirely imaginary, as much a result of the arrangement of "abstract" principles of line, form and pattern as they are based on realistic morphology. With one or two exceptions, the insect etchings have never been formally exhibited, existing as marginalia to the pursuit of other goals in his oeuvre. Yet he has returned again and again to this particular dreaming of form. One thing may be many things. A bug is more than a bug; it is a whole universe that resonates with possibility.

Gorham's acrylic paintings seek to understand how an artistic vision can act as both a descriptor of our visual world and as a healing agent for the soul. Some of her recent work shows tall narrow vistas of ocean scenes while other work has become more cropped and separated. Her work breaks up the subject matter into various views much the way we change how we view and interact with our world depending on who we are with and how we feel. Her work seeks to find integration and wholeness through recognition and acceptance of the parts, no matter how it is viewed.

This exhibition is free and open to the public. The Campus Center hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, contact Diane Noble at dbmn27@maine.rr.com.
