MPBN to broadcast two films from 色香视频's Maine Women Writers Collection

Maine Public Broadcasting will air two films from the 色香视频Maine Women Writers Collection this July and August 2010.

"Maine Women Writers Collection: The First Fifty Years" is a engaging film that tells the tale of the development, significance, and outreach of this gem of Maine literary history at the University of New England.

For 50 years, the Maine Women Writers Collection has collected the work of the state's most distinguished women writers and documented the experiences of ordinary women. The collection is unique and valuable for the breadth of the work and the deep sense of place captured in more than 7,500 books and manuscripts on more than 500 Maine women writers.

In "I Make Books," Maine artist Martha Hall, who died in 2003, reads from the compelling artist's books she created in response to her treatment for breast cancer between1989 and 2003.  Hall's books are works of art thematically focused around her experiences with this disease.  Her books have been featured in many special exhibitions across the country.
