CAIEP Event – Sexual Assault Forensic Nursing: What all healthcare professionals need to know for better patient outcomes

12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Online ()

Competencies: Roles & Responsibilities, Values & Ethics

If a patient has suffered sexual assault/abuse, how will your healthcare team work together to create a plan of care for the patient? A panel of specialized Registered Nurses – Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) educated and trained to provide comprehensive medical forensic care for those who have experienced intimate partner/domestic violence, stalking, strangulation, elder or child abuse, or trafficking – will provide information for students preparing to enter the healthcare workforce.  Patients may be of any age, socioeconomic background, gender, sexual orientation, or culture. All care is trauma informed, patient-centered, compassionate and supportive. Some patients begin their healing journey in the hospital exam room when cared for by a SANE.

Participation can be applied toward students’ IP Honors Distinction.
