On Thursday, May 18, the 色香视频College of Osteopathic Medicine鈥檚 Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC) hosted its fourth annual Marijuana Summit.

This year鈥檚 theme was 鈥淢arijuana through the lens of youth, policy and Intervention.鈥 More than 30 administrators, teachers, counselors, health care professionals and school resource officers from northern York County middle schools and high schools attended.

The agenda included a youth panel with students representing area high schools, who provided valuable insight into marijuana use among their peers and affective methods to prevent it. The event also featured presentations on Youth and Parent Engagement; Marijuana and the Teen Brain; the Teaching Independence, Diversity, Empowerment and Self Esteem (TIDES) program; and the Legalization of Recreational Marijuana.

The summit was hosted by CHCC鈥檚 Project Alliance in collaboration with RSU 23, RSU 21 and SAD #6. Project Alliance coalition aims to increase collaboration and take action to reduce the risks related to alcohol, marijuana and other drugs for youth and community members in northern York County. CHCC collaborates with community partners to implement healthy promotion, prevention and policy initiatives that make York County a healthy place to live, learn work and play. This program is supported by grants from the Drug Free Communities program and Maine Prevention Services.
