鈥淥ur world is changing, and it鈥檚 changing fast,鈥 she said. 鈥淎 huge focus for me as a teacher, other than instilling basic reading and writing skills in my students, is to ensure my students, when they grow up, are able to work with people who might not be exactly like them 鈥 who have different colored skin or who have different academic abilities 鈥 because, no matter what the future brings, they鈥檙e going to have to do that.鈥
She paused to think about how her work is contributing to a better world. 鈥淓very year, I get 20 kids, right? And our ultimate goal is to prepare them for tomorrow,鈥 she said. 鈥淚n the year my students spend with me, they will learn lifelong lessons in teamwork, patience, and empathy. I put a lot of time into building relationships and cultivating an environment that supports that mission, and I take that role pretty seriously.鈥
It鈥檚 a responsibility that Rosser takes especially to heart as the educator of her own children. Like Andrew and Ava some years before her, Addy is a member of Rosser鈥檚 classroom this fall. 鈥淢y students 鈥 and my kids 鈥 are going to be impacted by everyone they meet, from their coaches, their dance instructors, and by the people they see in the grocery store,鈥 she said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e impacted by all these people, and I get to be one of them. I think that鈥檚 pretty special.鈥
